The State of Scholarly Publishing
We’ve all heard about this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sokal_Affair and this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bogdanov_Affair , and that some papers generated by this http://pdos.csail.mit.edu/scigen/ have been accepted for publication … amusing stuff, isn’t it?
Today I ran across an article that was The Most Cited publication in Mathematics in 2008 and the author was named a Rising Star.
Today this paper is #2 top cited in Math, according to http://info.scopus.com/topcited/
In my very humble unprofessional opinion, this paper isn’t more valueable than those generated by SciGen. And I know I’m not the only one who thinks so.
